Edgar Arthur Wright 1887-1950

Its Saturday night, nothing on TV, time for a story.

As you may recall, Edgar was Libby`s (1891-1984) husband. Now for the twist as in every good story, Adoloph (Ed) Meilicke was married to a Mary Wright (1989-1988), and here mother was a Dalton. So there you have it, on both sides of the family, both Schnelle and Meilicke, this Wright family is attached.

Edgar Aurthur Wright was born in Scotland County, Mo. on Feburary 8, 1887, son of Levi and Alice (Dalton) Wright. He married Libby (Carrie Elizabeth (Schnelle) on May 21, 1913. Libby met her future husband when she was attending collage at Kirksville. (Schnelle book) It looks like Edgar had a sister.

Adolph (Ed) H. Meilicke born April 30, 1887 in Dallas County County. Ed married Mary Virginia (Wright)  in 1915. Ed invented and patented a corn head saver attachment for a binder. He died of a heart attack (assumed ?) shortly after removing an water well pump and pipe from the well which was located on the front yard of their farm, Tuesday, November 13, 1923.  (voice of Karen R (Meilicke) I can still hear my grandmother telling me the story, leaving her with four little ones to raise the youngest being 7 mo old. Mary later married a gentleman surname of Cooley and with him had a son named Carmen Cooley.  

Later, we understand that Mary Wright, while married to _________ Cooley, but living separately ~1958~(Albert)~ lived across the road from this collage, and apparently, often walked the collage property at night, worrying about the future, or as the story said worrying about where the money to feed the kids would come from. The story also implied there was a lot of drinking going on by Mr. Cooley.

Back into time

We are from the Samuel, Gustave, Gustav, Julius(gp) line. EJ is from the Christian (1), Christian (2), EJ, (Hugo) Line.

There was family schism over the temperance movement / alcohol.

Gustav, had brothers, Frederick, and Julius who emigrate to Mo, and/or WI.

EJ had speaks of Frederick and Uncle Julius in MO, WI.

Julius(gp) and Hugo concluded they were second cousins, but I do not see it.
The close that I see is Samuel and Christian (1) could have been brothers, making 3 rd cousins.

Indifference. To the Stoics, indifference to all things which were beyond their direct and complete control is the standard response. This is how I feel about all things computer / IT related.

What is under their complete and direct control? Not much. Our judgement, opinions, some non physical desires, beliefs after review, and perhaps some non physical aversions. Some thought more, some less. The only good is virtue, the only evil is vice. All else is indifference. Including computers, clouds, software switches, toggles, background processes, embedded objects, and turkeys.

Be happy. Soon we forget. Soon others forget us. All is impermanent. Enjoy what life has to offer in the now.

The Romans at the time of Marcus Aurelius said people are related by seed or by blood. I how you know what the mean. So the RNA is only transferred by blood, and DNA by both.

Yes, there is life out there. I have made contact with a second cousin, the grand daughter of Adolph (Ed), one of grand fathers younger brothers. More on this later.

Death

I am finding this family history site difficult for non obvious reasons, dealing with the dead. I find that the continual listing of the dead draining, depressing, sucking up all the dopamine and serotonin that I produce. So negative it would kill a battery at 100 paces. I am most likely in the last quarter of life so death, my own upcoming death is something that I need to rap my mind around, or deal with in some way. As Marcus Aurelius sort of put it: soon we will forget and soon after that, we will be forgotten. Memory lasts about as long as those we have know well. Stories perhaps another generation or two. Life is short, and we must learn to deal with our impending death.

In modern life, we are mostly sheltered from direct exposure to the dead and dying. Mortician's and funeral directors take care of most issues. Death denying religions (eternal life, Christians, Moors) protect us from the finality if we subscribe. Those without that subscription may have alternately subscribe to a reincarnation, or chose to deal with reality, the soul, spirit, directing mind or what ever you name it, the thought pattern portion of us, demises along with the physical portion. When the plug is pulled, it is all over.

Now some of us choose the Stoic approach, going along with nature, without regard for potential address change, and accept the end is final to the realm of the living. We are returned to where we came from, or not. Children come to visit the living, and seniors and others are returned or not. It is beyond our knowledge. We can choose to be concerned about living well, in accordance with nature, prudently, justly, moderately, frugally. Unlike the Buddhist that say, reincarnation, rebirth, relocation; it is your choice to go up or down, the Stoic have a real concept, death is final, so anything you want passed along, you had bloody well pass it while you are alive. The typical legacy, even then, was your name chiselled into stone.

This blog may take a turn toward pictures and stories to spare my dopamine and serotonin or not, or just go stale, I do not know.

The artefacts must also go somewhere afterwards, so if you want them, speak up in the comments, otherwise Nicole may just put them in the dump.
