Artefact - Little Level

The story of this little level is that it came from Gus's to our place to level a kerosene refrigerator. Gus said hold on to it, for now, and there was a story where it came from.

It was the last remaining part of his first thrashing machine. The level was part of the miscellaneous stuff that came with the Red River. It had two places that needed to be checked for level, one to check the cross level, and one to check the longitudinal level. The issues were the grain would flow to the downhill side it it was not level, and the grain screens need to be at the correct angle for efficiency, else it would put grain over or not produce well.

The Red River were Canadian made wood frame, (mostly wood) machine. It was horse powered with a two horse tread mill, that I recall sat in the shed north of the horse barn. It, along with the Sawyer Massey went to the museum East of Carvel. The museum was where the ski hill is at, the one that Clifford worked on building, running a scraper on in perhaps 1972. As I recall, the Sawyer Massey was one of those sold to Battleford or Triangle at the museum dissolution.    

The  Red River was sold as part of the deal to get the Sawyer Massey and the McCormick steel frame thrashing machine.
